his illustration was done for the Microsoft Press book, “Microsoft Encyclopedia of Networking”. This diagram contrasts normal binary transmission with 2B1Q (2 Binary 1 Quaternary), which is used in ISDN and other digital communications, to show that through the encoding of two bits, it has a greater range of carrying signal pulses or can transmit data twice as quickly.
